 Mrs. Barlow's Homework Policy

Homework is an extension of the learning experience children have during the instructional day. It is designed to aid the students in achieving classroom and school goals. Students in my class will be assigned approximately 30 to 60 minutes of homework per day. Please check your child's assignment pad nightly.

If your child is ill but able to do schoolwork at home, I will be happy to prepare assignments that can be done without teacher instruction. Please call the school by the start of the school day to make arrangements for work to be picked up that afternoon.

  •     I expect everyone to do his or her homework and hand it in on time. Each student will receive an index card so that I can keep track of missed or late homework assignments. Homework offenders will have to document the date, assignment missed, and reason why the assignment was not completed on their index card. I will keep the index card and initial it when the assignment is completed. Homework offenders will lose a privilege until the assignment is completed. Homework grades will reflect all missing and late assignments. I will notify parents/ guardians if their child repeatedly fails to complete and return homework assignments.

  •     Students who complete 100 % of their homework on time, will have their name posted on the "Homework Hall of Fame" bulletin board and will receive a certificate of honor monthly. He or she will also earn a 100% homework quiz grade in every subject area per marking period.
